Clinical Relevance of vacA, cagA, and iceA Genotypes of Helicobacter pylori

چکیده
Introduction: Helicobacter pylori infection is associated withvariable clinical outcomes, including gastroduodenal diseases, and genetic factors may be relevant in this process. The aim of this study was to investigate any association between the H. pylori genotypes and the clinical out come in patients diagnosed with gastrointestinal diseases. Methods: Antral gastric biopsy specimens were collected from 250 patients with gastritis. Clinical diagnosis was based on histology, and endoscopy. Specimens were tested for H. pylori genotypes by PCR, and the presence of vacA s and m regions, cagA, and iceA genotypes were analyzed for association with the clinical disease. Results: Significant associations were found betweenthe genotypes vacA s1 with gastritis (P=0.052), and atrophy (P= 0.001), vacA s2 and vacA m2 with erosion (P= 0.004, and < 0.001 respectively), cagA with duodenitis (P= 0.005). Several genotypes present in certain diseases were significantly associated with the patients’ gender, while, no association between the genotypes, and the age of the patient was found. Conclusions: This study reports the genotypes of three virulence genes in H. pylori for the first time in Jordan; it adds new pieces of information in this respect. Overall, the results demonstrated that certain H. pylori genotypes showed significant correlation with the clinical outcome, and their presence might be used to predict the disease outcome.

Relationship between Helicobacter pylori iceA, cagA, and vacA status and clinical outcome: studies in four different countries.
There is continuing interest in identifying Helicobacter pylori virulence factors that might predict the risk for symptomatic clinical outcomes. It has been proposed that iceA and cagA genes are such markers and can identify patients with peptic ulcers. We compared H. pylori isolates from four countries, looking at the cagA and vacA genotypes, iceA alleles, and presentation of the infection. We...

The genotypes of Helicobacter pylori flaA, cagA, vacA, and iceA were determined for DNA isolated from patients with chronic gastritis or peptic ulcer in eastern Taiwan. The vacA gene encoding the s1a subtype was found to predominate in peptic ulcer patients, and the iceA1 genotype was associated with chronic gastritis. cagA and flaA genes were not found to be associated with these types of dise...

Infection with Helicobacter pylori strains harboring determinants of pathogenicity may lead to a strong inflammatory response in gastric mucosa. In this work, we examined the frequency of the cagA, vacA and iceA genotypes in H. pylori strains isolated from Brazilian patients and correlated these with the clinical manifestations. H. pylori was isolated from 165 patients [30 with non-ulcer dyspep...

Infection with Helicobacter pylori is a major cause of chronic gastritis and peptic ulcer disease in children and its consequences in adulthood can lead to serious complications, including in particular the development of gastric cancer. Our aim was to analyze the relationship between the occurrence of selected genes such as cagA, vacA, iceA, and babA2 determining pathogenicity of H. pylori str...

The aim of this study was to assess the genetic status of cagA, vacA subtype and iceA genotypes of Helicobacter pylori and the relationship with upper gastrointestinal diseases in Northeast China. Gastric biopsies were obtained from 378 patients with upper gastrointestinal diseases and 197 samples were used. The cagA, vacA alleles and iceA genotypes were determined by polymerase chain reaction....
